Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai

A nice night market. A few minutes later it started pouring with rain. It feels like the season has started to turn with daily downpours now after going nearly two months without any.

Chiang Mai

The middle of Chiang Mai is a (partially remaining) walled old town surrounded by a moat. While it's called the old town there's not a whole lot to actually see inside.

We've been in Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand for the last week. It's the second largest city in Thailand but it has quite a smell town feel. There's not a huge amount to do in the city itself apart from eating and drinking so it's been a pretty relaxed week. There's plenty to see in the region but we've left that for the next ten days when we'll have a car to explore a bit further.

A highlight was a Thai cooking class where we both learned how to make a bunch of different dishes. All were surprisingly simple to make which explains how that can be made so quickly after ordering here. Also surprising was just how much oil and sugar goes into them! We're looking forward to trying the recipes when we're cooking again.
